
Thanks to numerous community contributions, the Ozanam Center is able to provide
the following services:
- shelter for 30 days - transportation (Special cases)
- Three meals a day - Limited Medical attention
- Clothing - Recreation
- Essential casework service - Food Pantry
- English Classes - Job Training
- After School Tutorial - Parenting Classes
An average of 85 homeless guest are housed at the center daily. During 1999, 5,057
homeless people were served, and 75, 291 meals were served. In addition, 41 children
were enrolled in the Brownsville Independent School District. Also, 7 women were
provided with parental care and 777 guest were tested for TB by the Cameron County
Health Dept.
Moreover, 51 individuals received housing benefits, 112 guest were assisted with
paperwork. 233 were assisted with transportation, 1,397 clients received Brownsville
Urban System vouchers and community volunteers provided 12, 856 hours of works.
